* from late Wednesday night until late Friday night
* at 8am Monday the stage was... 6.1 feet
* minor flooding is forecast
* flood stage is 17.0 feet
* forecast to rise above flood stage by Thursday morning and continue to rise to
near 17.2 feet by Thursday early afternoon. The river will fall below flood
stage by Friday evening.
* At 17.0 feet... considerable flooding of lowlands will occur.

the Styx river near Elsanor
* from Tuesday morning until late Tuesday night
* at 8am Monday the stage was... 1.9 feet
* minor flooding is forecast
* flood stage is 12.0 feet
* forecast to rise above flood stage by tomorrow late morning and continue to
rise to near 12.3 feet by tomorrow evening. The river will fall below flood
stage by tomorrow evening.
* At 12.0 feet... residence downstream at Seminole Landing should be alert to
possible flooding as the gage rises to the 12 foot flood stage.

* from Tuesday evening until Wednesday afternoon
* at 7am Monday the stage was... 10.1 feet
* minor flooding is forecast

* forecast to rise above flood stage by tomorrow late evening and continue to
rise to near 22.6 feet by early Wednesday morning. The river will fall below
flood stage by late Wednesday morning.
* At 22.5 feet... street flooding in Brewton should gradually end as the creek
levels falls below 22 feet.

inches with locally higher amounts can be expected in the watch
area through Tuesday morning.

A coastal Flood Watch remains in effect from 6 PM CST this
evening through late Monday night.

The combination of strong easterly winds combined with high tide
levels is expected to create tide levels of 2 to 3 feet above
normal. This will create total tide levels of 3 to 4 feet. If Ida
is stronger than currently forecast across the southern Gulf...
the increased swell would cause even higher tide levels than the
current forecast.

Residents living in flood prone areas along the coastal sections
of Mobile and Baldwin counties... including Mobile Bay... along
with coastal sections of northwest Florida should take necessary
precautions to protect life and property in case these high tide
levels are reached.

A coastal Flood Watch means that conditions favorable for
flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should be
alert for later statements or warnings... and take action to

Ida remains a tropical storm and is located about 220 miles south of
Mobile Alabama as of 12 PM CST. Surf will continue to increase
during the day and a large battering surf is expected from sunset
through the overnight hours. Surf heights of 10 to 15 feet are
possible from Fort Morgan Alabama to Destin Florida. Surf heights of
5 to 8 feet expected along Dauphin Island Alabama. Heavy rain will
continue to spread inland through tonight.

any preparations needed for the protection of life and property.

... Winds...
as Tropical Storm Ida approaches... tropical storm force winds are
expected to approach the coast late this afternoon and spread inland
this evening generally east of Interstate 65. Tropical storm force
winds will spread inland west of of Interstate 65 by around midnight.
Tropical storm force winds will continue through the overnight
hours... with gusts of 50 to 60 mph possible along the coast and gusts
to 40 to 50 mph further inland.

... Storm surge and storm tide...
total tide heights of 4 to 6 feet are possible from southern Mobile
County to Fort Morgan. Total tide heights of 3 to 5 feet are
possible across southern Baldwin County. Across the northwest
Florida Panhandle... total tide heights of 3 to 4 feet are currently
anticipated. The time of astronomical high tide on Tuesday will range
from 2 to 5 am across the region. This will exacerbate storm related
flooding since Ida will be nearing this coast during this time. There
have already been reports of minor coastal flooding across Dauphin
Island with water reported from St. Stephens Road to the west end of
Dauphin Island.

... Inland flooding...
a Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the northwest Florida Panhandle
and much of southwest Alabama through noon Tuesday. Rainfall totals
of 3 to 6 inches with locally higher amounts around 8 inches can be
expected. Listen for possible flood warnings for your location... and
be ready to act if flooding rains occur.

... Tornadoes...
the risk of tornadoes is low but cannot be ruled out. If tornadoes
do occur they will mainly form in ida's outer rain bands from late
today into Tuesday. Tornadoes are most likely to occur in the
northeast quadrant of the storm and can happen a few hundred miles
from the storms center.

... Coastal hazards...
moderate beach erosion is expected to occur from the west end of
Dauphin Island Alabama to Destin Florida. Extremely dangerous rip
currents will occur along the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches
through Tuesday afternoon due to high winds and waves. Rip currents
are life-threatening to anyone entering the surf... and swimmers
should not enter the water under any circumstances.
