Areal Flood Watch
Statement as of 9:45 PM CDT on July 23, 2008

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Thursday afternoon...

The Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of south Texas... including the following areas...
Duval... Jim Wells... Kleberg... Nueces and San Patricio.

* Through Thursday afternoon

* Hurricane Dolly made landfall Wednesday afternoon and is now a
Tropical Storm. Dolly was over the Rio Grande Valley Wednesday
evening... and is slowly moving west. As Dolly progresses farther
west and winds weaken... the potential for very heavy rainfall
will continue over south Texas tonight and into Thursday... as
rain bands from Dolly move over nearly saturated grounds. The
concern for flooding rains from Dolly should diminish late
Thursday as Dolly moves into Mexico and daytime heating ends.

If Dolly generally follows its forecast track... additional rainfall
amounts from tonight through Thursday afternoon will average
between 2 and 4 inches... with the highest amounts over southern
potions of Duval and Jim Wells County. Isolated amounts of 10 or
more inches also cannot be ruled out.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. Do not drive your vehicle into areas where
water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too high to allow
your car to cross safely. Turn around and do not drown. Vehicles
caught in rising waters should be abandoned quickly. Move to
higher ground.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

of Corpus Christi. Movement was toward the west near 7 mph.
Maximum sustained winds have decreased to 70 mph.

... Winds...

Tropical storm force wind gusts will be possible through midnight.

... Inland flooding...

An additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall can be expected through
Thursday. Locally higher amounts will be possible. This additional
amount of rainfall may produce flooding of low-lying areas and
