Forecast as of 4:35 am CDT on July 8, 2008

Now
regional weather discussion.. rain and scattered thunderstorms will build gradually southeast through 6 am over north central Oklahoma. Localized flooding will be possible... but most areas in northern Oklahoma will just receive a much-needed soaking rain this morning. Radar at 430 am indicated very heavy thunderstorms... some producing rainfall at a rate of around an inch per hour... from Ponca City to near Mulhall. These thunderstorms were moving to the east southeast toward Stillwater at 20 mph. Current radar trends suggest that the heavier thunderstorms will build southeast toward Cushing... Chandler... and Stroud through 6 am. Elsewhere... widespread showers and occasional thunderstorms will continue to move east through 6 am across much of the rest of the northern third of Oklahoma. The most concentrated showers will be from near Freedom and Waynoka east to near Cherokee... Medford... Enid... Blackwell... and Ponca City. Hourly rainfall rates of a quarter to a half inch will be likely in some of these areas.
