Forecast as of 5:45 am CDT on July 8, 2008

Now
regional weather discussion.. rain and isolated thunderstorms will continue through 7 am over most of north central Oklahoma. Showers will increase by daybreak over west central and southwestern Oklahoma... and eventually will spread into central Oklahoma by mid morning. Radar at 545 am indicated widespread showers continuing across the northern third of Oklahoma. Individual showers were moving east at 25 mph. Rainfall rates of 1/4 to 1/2 inch will be likely in some parts of northern Oklahoma this morning. Radar also indicated showers increasing in coverage from the Texas Panhandle into western Oklahoma around Cheyenne... Elk City... Sayre... and Erick. New development was occurring as far south as Hollis... Mangum... and Snyder. These showers were moving northeast at 20 mph. If they maintain their current speed and current rate of development... showers will overspread much of western and central Oklahoma north of Interstate 44 by around 8 or 9 am. Surface analysis early this morning indicates a slow moving front across central Oklahoma from near Sayre... to Anadarko... to Norman... to Prague. This front is forecast to drift slowly south this morning toward southern Oklahoma. Showers and scattered thunderstorms will be most numerous near and north of the surface front.
