* until 530 am EDT Thursday

* at 1123 PM EDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicates
an additional quarter of an inch to an inch of rainfall may occur
in these locations prior to 530 am. Ponding of water on roadways
and poor drainage flooding will persist.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Turn around... dont drown.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* all of eastern New York and adjacent western New England. This
includes the capital district... Mohawk Valley... Hudson
Valley... Catskills... Adirondacks... southern Green
Mountains... Berkshires and northwest Connecticut.

* Through Friday morning

* a frontal boundary oriented south to north will become nearly
stationary across the region tonight. An abundance of moisture
will advance northward along this frontal boundary. Rainfall is
expected to become heavy at times this evening and tonight.
Periods of heavy rain will linger through much of Thursday...
especially from the Hudson River valley eastward.

* Total rainfall amounts by Friday morning are expected to range
between 2 to 4 inches... with locally higher
amounts... especially where embedded thunderstorms persist. This
amount of rainfall will cause significant rises on area streams
and rivers... and may lead to some flooding.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop. Stay tuned for
further updates from your National Weather Service on this
developing situation.

Rain and rain showers...heavy at times...will affect much of the eastern Catskills...Mid Hudson valley...greater Albany and Troy area...and the Taconics of New York...through 230 am. Rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch will be most common...with locally an inch or more in areas where heavier downpours occur. Thunderstorms will also pop up from time to time...possibly producing sudden wind gusts. Be on the lookout for washed out roadways. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect. A Flood Watch remains in effect.
