Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 4:08 am PDT on October 10, 2008

... Early-season storm to produce wintry weather this weekend...

The strong cold low pressure system that has enveloped the
region... bringing near-record low temperatures to northern Nevada this
morning... will bring snow showers to most of northern and central
Nevada by late afternoon. Showers will continue to develop over
Humboldt County early this morning... then spread south and east as
the day progresses.

This system will be affecting northern and central Nevada through
the weekend... and several inches of snow are possible across
eastern Nevada Saturday through Sunday... especially the
northeastern portion of the state. High temperatures will struggle to
reach the 40s today... and linger in the 30s on Saturday. Winds
will be strong on Saturday as well. As the low pressure system
begins moving east and skies begin to clear... more record lows
will be possible Saturday and Sunday night.

Those participating in outdoor activities this weekend should
prepare for adverse weather conditions... especially if venturing
into the higher terrain.
