Wind Advisory
Statement as of 12:00 PM PDT on October 10, 2008

... Wind Advisory remains in effect until midnight PDT tonight...
... Wind Advisory in effect from 3 am to 12 PM PDT Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a Wind
Advisory for strong northwest winds... which is in effect from 3
am to 12 PM PDT Saturday for the Las Vegas Valley. A Wind Advisory
remains in effect until midnight PDT tonight for strong southwest
winds.

Strong southwest winds will develop this afternoon and continue
through the evening with gusts up to 45 mph possible. Winds are
expected to subside for a few hours before a cold front pushes
through in the early morning. Northwest winds behind the front
could approach 45 mph... especially over the northern valley.

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 30 to 39 mph and... or wind
gusts of 40 to 57 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make
driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use
extra caution.

Fire Weather Warning
Statement as of 12:01 PM MST on October 10, 2008/

... Red flag warning remains in effect until 10 PM PDT /10 PM MST/
this evening for strong winds and low rh...

A red flag warning remains in effect until 10 PM PDT /10 PM MST/
this evening for strong winds and low rh.

An approaching storm system will bring west to southwest winds
gusting over 40 mph to much of the warned area this afternoon and
evening. Relative humidities are expected to be below 15 percent
for much of that time as well.

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring or are imminent. A combination of strong
winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will create
extreme fire growth potential.
