Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 5:22 PM EDT on July 24, 2008

The National Weather Service in Gray Maine has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
eastern Belknap County in central New Hampshire...
Strafford County in central New Hampshire...
southeastern Merrimack County in central New Hampshire...
southwestern Oxford County in western Maine...
western York County in southwest Maine...
Rockingham County in southern New Hampshire...
Carroll County in northern New Hampshire...

* until 1115 PM EDT

* at 518 PM EDT Doppler radar showed heavy showers and thunderstorms
moving north across the same area of east central and southeastern
New Hampshire and the western most portions of southwest Maine.
Rainfall of 1 to 3 inches has fallen across much of this area over
the past 24 hours. Heavy showers and thunderstorms will continue to
move across this area through the evening hours. Rainfall may exceed
an inch an hour with total rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches likely
in some areas and even locally higher amounts possible.

This much rainfall will cause small streams to leave their banks.
Ponding of water on roads... especially at intersections and
underpasses... will lead to localized flooding.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

Please report high water to the National Weather Service by calling
toll free... 1-877-633-6772... when you can do so safely.
