The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
New Haven County in southern Connecticut...

* until 830 am EDT...

* at 228 am EDT hydrologic gages are indicating river levels
approaching or exceeding flood stages.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Minor flooding may occur along the Naugatuck River near Waterbury.

The pomperaug river near Salisbury is currently at 8.1ft... and may
reach its flood stage of 9.0 feet within the next few hours.

Residents along these rivers should monitor flood statements and be
ready to take action to protect life and property.
