Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 11:10 am PDT on July 24, 2008

... Areas of smoke will continue over parts of the interior of
northern California...

Satellite imagery indicated a large area of smoke from the yolla
Bolly fire complex spread northeast into the Redding and Red Bluff
areas and towards Burney yesterday. Smoke also covers much of the
northern and central Sacramento Valley. The smoke has been dense
enough to restrict visibilities to below 3 miles overnight for
portions of Shasta and Tehama County.

Light surface winds today and Friday are expected to maintain very
smoky conditions over the Shasta County mountains and northern
Sacramento Valley. Meanwhile... the continuation of a moderate Delta
breeze is expected to allow for better visibility and air quality in
the southern Sacramento Valley.

Smoke from fire complexes in Butte and Plumas counties is expected
to continue to spread towards Lake Almanor and Quincy today.

The smoky conditions will result in poor air quality and people
are advised to limit outdoor activities and prolonged exposure to
the smoky air... especially those with respiratory conditions. For
additional health tips on dealing with the smoke... please visit

quality district for further details.
