Synopsis
At 800 PM EDT...the center of Tropical Storm Fay was located just off the East Coast of central Florida near latitude 29.0 north...longitude 80.3 west...or about 45 miles east- southeast of Daytona Beach Florida. Fay has been nearly stationary during the evening...but a slow motion toward the northwest is forecast to begin tonight...with a turn toward the west-northwest on Thursday. On this track...Fay is forecast to move very slowly across northern Florida on Thursday...reaching The Big Bend on Friday and southeast Alabama Saturday morning. Fay is expected to be a weakening depression as it skirts the Apalachee Bay on Friday. Sustained winds will reach exercise caution levels late tonight across the eastern legs with advisory conditions expected by Thursday afternoon. Tropical storm force wind gusts will be possible across the far northeast Gulf from late Thursday night through Friday night.
