Coastal Flood Watch
Statement as of 9:12 PM CST on November 7, 2009

... Coastal Flood Watch remains in effect from 3 am CST Sunday
through Monday morning...

.An area of low pressure near the Bay of Campeche is expected to
move north into the western Gulf of Mexico on Sunday. This feature
combined with high pressure over Texas will lead to strong easterly
winds over the Upper Texas coastal waters and increased tide levels.
Tides are forecast to run 1 to 1.5 feet above normal through
tonight. Tide levels will increase to 2 to 2.5 feet above normal
Sunday night.

The highest tide levels are expected to occur during high tide
Sunday night. Tide levels between 3.8 and 4.6 feet will be possible.
The main impacts are expected to occur along the Bolivar Peninsula
and the west end of Galveston Island. Water may at times overspread
roadways including Highway 87 on the Bolivar Peninsula and other lower
lying coastal roads leading to hazardous travel conditions.

Elsewhere along the Upper Texas coast and Galveston Bay... beach
flooding will be common with minimal if any impacts elsewhere.

Tide levels are expected to quickly subside Monday afternoon as the
winds shift to a northerly direction.
