| Now regional weather discussion... late this morning... a large area of light to occasionally moderate rain continued over portions of northern and western Oklahoma... and western North Texas. Most of the activity was located along and west of a line from Ponca City... to Hinton... to Frederick... to Seymour Texas. However... the rain has temporarily diminished across far northwest Oklahoma. Rainfall rates will average between one tenth and one third of an inch per hour. The rain is associated with a slow-moving upper level storm system located over the southwest United States. The scattered light to moderate precipitation will continue to spread slowly east during the day although through early afternoon... most of the activity should remain west of a line from Stillwater... to Oklahoma City... to Wichita Falls. Elsewhere... a cold front that extended from near Medford... to Weatherford... to Hobart... to west of Vernon... will continue to move southeast today. The front is expected to reach the Interstate 44 corridor by early evening. As the front moves through... temperatures will quickly fall from the 70s into the 50s as winds shift to the north at 15 to 25 mph. |
