Areal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 3:34 am CDT on September 7, 2008

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a

* small stream flood advisory for...
northeast Garfield County in northern Oklahoma...
southern Grant County in northern Oklahoma...
central Alfalfa County in northwest Oklahoma...

* until 630 am CDT

* at 331 am CDT... Weather Service Doppler radar detected moderate to
heavy rain continuing across the southern half of Grant... central
Alfalfa... and far northern Garfield counties. Radar estimates and
Oklahoma mesonet measurements indicate that 2 to 3 inches of
rainfall has occurred across portions of the advisory area.
Additional rainfall amounts to near one inch will be possible during
the early morning hours.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams... and ponding of water on country roads and
farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

Forecast as of 6:00 am CDT on September 7, 2008

Now
regional weather discussion... a complex of thunderstorms will continue to diminish early this morning across northeastern Oklahoma and southeastern Kansas. At 600 am... storms within the complex were north of a line from Enid to Perry. The thunderstorms were moving east-southeast at about 30 mph. Additional showers were scattered across much of Kansas and extreme northern Oklahoma. Heavy rainfall from storms earlier this morning will result in a risk of flooding along and near a line from near Cherokee... to Pond Creek... to northeast of Perry. The greatest flooding risk will be north and east of Perry early this morning. A stationary front extended from Holdenville... west to Purcell... to near Lawton... southwest to Quanah Texas... and on west into New Mexico. North of the front... temperatures were mostly in the upper 50s and lower 60s with northeast winds. South of the front... temperatures were mostly in the low to mid 60s... with southeast winds. Temperatures will remain nearly steady until after sunrise.
