Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 3:27 am PDT on October 11, 2008

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 5 am PDT Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Elko has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory for snow... which is in effect until 5 am PDT Sunday.

A low pressure system will develop over eastern Nevada and spread
snow across southern Elko County today and tonight. The heaviest
snowfall is expected across the eastern half of the County at
elevations above 4500 feet. Above 7500 feet in the Ruby Mountains
and East Humboldt Range... snow accumulations will range from 6 to
10 inches. Locations east of the Ruby Mountains between 4500 feet
and 7500 feet are expected to recieve between 3 and 6 inches of snow
accumulation by late tonight. Locations west of the Ruby
Mountains... including the cities of Elko and Carlin... will miss
the brunt of the storm... with 1 to 3 inches expected in these
locations. Locations below 4500 feet... including the city of West
Wendover... will also receive up to 3 inches of snow due to warmer
temperatures at these lower elevations. The period of heaviest
snow is expected to occur later this afternoon into this evening.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow will cause
travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited
visibilities... and use caution while driving.
