The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued an

* Arroyo and small stream flood advisory for...
west central Curry County in east central New Mexico
south central Quay County in east central New Mexico
northwestern Roosevelt County in east central New Mexico

* until 1045 PM MDT

* at 851 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain over extreme southern Quay County near house and
McAllister. This will impact arroyos and small streams draining
into Alamosa creek. This includes highways 84 and 60 across
northern Roosevelt and western Curry County... Tolar... Melrose
and Saint Vrain.

* Strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos... small
streams and over low water crossings.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows
in arroyos and over low water crossings. Do not attempt to drive
through these waters. Water in arroyos may travel many miles and take
hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.

east central Quay County in east central New Mexico

* until 1045 PM MDT

* at 846 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain between Interstate 40 and Highway 54 in eastern Quay
County. Areas impacted include San Jon... Bard... Logan... and
Glenrio. This includes Interstate 40 from mile Post 340 to
the Texas line... and state roads 469 and 392. This advisory
covers small streams and arroyos draining into the Canadian
river.

* Strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos... small
streams and over low water crossings.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows
in arroyos and over low water crossings. Do not attempt to drive

heavy rain along Interstate 40 near Palomas... or from mile Post
320 to mile Post 330. This will impact arroyos and small streams
in the Tucumcari area... and south along State Road 209 toward
Quay and Ragland.

* Strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos... small
streams and over low water crossings.

Isolated to scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will continue to move to the east southeast at 20 mph over northeastern plains through the evening. Precipitation will tend to favor Quay and Guadalupe counties with additional activity in San Miguel and Harding counties near Nara Visa...San Jon...and Wheatland. Stronger storms will be capable of frequent lightning...gusty winds and small sized hail. Rainfall amounts from two tenths to one half inch will be common with locally higher amounts in stronger storms.
