Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 7:37 PM MDT on July 5, 2009

... Line of strong thunderstorms moving over eastern
Lincoln... southwestern De Baca... and extreme western Chaves County...

At 734 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
strong thunderstorms... capable of producing winds up to 50 mph and
hail up to one half inch in diameter along a line extending from 25
miles northwest of Mesa to 6 miles west of Arabela. Movement was
southeast at 25 mph.

Locations in the path of these storms include the town of
Lincoln... as well as rural eastern Lincoln County near state
highways 246 and 247 and into rural western Chaves and southwestern
De Baca counties.

Heavy rains will cause water to pond on roads and in low spots. Fast
running water will quickly fill arroyos and ditches.

Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms.
