Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 2:03 PM MDT on October 10, 2008

... Stormy weather forecasted tonight and Saturday...

A strong low pressure system will move slowly into the western
United States tonight and Saturday. Increasing southerly winds
ahead of the low will push abundant moisture associated with
Hurricane Norbert northward into southern New Mexico and western
Texas. As a result scattered showers and thunderstorms will
develop across the Borderland later tonight with storms becoming
widespread on Saturday.

Heavy rains will fall over some areas with isolated locations
receiving up to 2 inches of rain and possible flooding. In
addition a few storms may become severe with damaging winds and
hail.

Most of the rain will end by late Saturday night as drier air flows
into the region. Persons should listen to NOAA Weather Radio or
local television or radio stations for future weather updates.
