Wind Advisory
Statement as of 2:11 PM MDT on May 11, 2008

... Wind Advisory in effect from 2 PM to 9 PM MDT Monday...

The National Weather Service in El Paso TX/Santa Teresa has
issued a Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 2 PM to 9 PM MDT
Monday.

Surface low pressure to the east combined with an approaching
upper level disturbance will generate windy conditions across
southern New Mexico and western Texas Monday afternoon and
evening. West to southwest winds will increase to around 30 mph
with gusts to 45 mph. The high winds will produce blowing dust
and sand causing visibilities to fall under a mile in a few
areas... including portions of Interstate 10 between El Paso and
Las Cruces and in the Deming vicinity. Hazardous driving
conditions may occur... especially for high profile vehicles.

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Fire Weather Watch
Statement as of 9:20 am MDT on May 11, 2008

... Fire Weather Watch in effect from Monday afternoon through
Monday evening...

The National Weather Service in El Paso TX/Santa Teresa has
issued a Fire Weather Watch... which is in effect from Monday
afternoon through Monday evening.

Sustained 20 ft winds will exceed 20 mph with gust of 30 to 35 mph
Monday afternoon. Relative humidity will drop below 15 percent most
locations... and fire danger is expected to remain at very high
levels.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
red flag warnings.
