Coastal Flood Warning
Statement as of 3:34 PM EDT on May 11, 2008

... Coastal Flood Warning in effect from midnight tonight to 8 am
EDT Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a coastal
Flood Warning... which is in effect from midnight tonight to 8 am
EDT Tuesday. The coastal flood advisory is no longer in effect.
The coastal Flood Watch is no longer in effect.

The onshore flow is expected to cause widespread but mainly minor
tidal flooding on the ocean front and the adjacent back bays
around the time of high tide tonight... which ranges from about
1:30 am to about 3:30 am... and runs an hour or two later on the
back bays.

As the flow becomes northeast and strengthens Monday and
continues Monday night... areas of moderate tidal flooding could
occur. High tide Monday afternoon is from about 2:00 PM to about
4:00 PM... again an hour or two later on the back bays. High tide
early Tuesday morning is from about 2:30 am to about 4:30 am... an
hour or two later on the back bays.

The following are times of high tide and water level forecasts,
referenced to mean lower low water, for points along the New
Jersey and Delaware ocean front:

For Sandy Hook New Jersey... high tide is at 3:00 PM Monday and
is forecast to be 7.5 to 8.0 feet above MLLW. High tide is again
at 3:12 am Tuesday morning and is forecast at 7.0 to 7.5 feet
above MLLW and 357 PM Tuesday afternoon with a height at 7.0 to
7.5 ft above MLLW.

For Atlantic City New Jersey, steel pier... high tide is at 2:43
PM Monday afternoon with a forecast near 7.50 feet above MLLW.
High tide is again at 2:56 am Tuesday morning with a forecast
around 7.5 feet MLLW and 344 PM Tuesday afternoon with a height of
7.0 above MLLW.

For Cape May New Jersey... high tide is at 3:48 PM Monday with a
forecast of 7.5 to 8.0 feet above MLLW. High tide is again at
403 am Tuesday morning with a forecast of around 7.5 to 8.0 feet
above and MLLW and 451 Tuesday afternoon with a height of 7.5 feet
above MLLW.

At Fenwick Island Delaware... high tide is at 2:46 PM Monday
afternoon and is forecast around 6.5 feet MLLW. High tide is
again at 2:58 am early Tuesday morning and is forecast between
6.5 and 7.0 feet MLLW and 456 PM Tuesday afternoon with a height
of 6.0 to 6.5 ft above MLLW.

This type of storm is not common for the month of may, and can
cause inconveniences for commuters traveling to and from the
barrier islands during the times of high tide. Heavy rain is also
going to be falling with gale force winds adding to the stormy
conditions at the shore. The worst of the storm will be during the
day Monday into early Tuesday.

A coastal Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent. Coastal
residents in the warned area should be alert for rising water... and
take appropriate action to protect life and property. Remember to
move your vehicle to higher ground at the times of high tide.
