Blizzard Warning

... Blizzard Warning in effect until 6 am EST Thursday...
... Winter Storm Warning is cancelled...

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Blizzard
Warning... which is in effect until 6 am EST Thursday. The Winter
Storm Warning has been cancelled.

Snow will continue through the day. The snow may mix with sleet
at times this morning... but will otherwise be heavy at times
during the day... with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour
possible. Some south coastal locations could mix with rain this
morning.

By the time snow ends tonight... total accumulations of 10 to 16
inches can be expected.

As the storm intensifies... northeast winds will increase and become
quite strong and gusty by afternoon. Gusts of 35 to 40 mph will
cause blowing and drifting of snow... with blizzard conditions
along with possible power outages... again mainly this afternoon
into this evening. Winds turn to the north by tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions... making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded... stay with your vehicle.
