... Flash Flood Watch in effect from Tuesday morning through
Wednesday morning...

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has
expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of northeast Georgia...
western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina... including
the following areas... in northeast Georgia... Elbert. In
western North Carolina... eastern Polk. In upstate South
Carolina... Abbeville... greater Greenville... Greenwood...
Laurens... Spartanburg and Union SC.

* From Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning

* as the remnants of tropical cyclone Ida move in from the southwest...
rain will overspread the region. Periods of heavy rainfall are
expected Tuesday into Tuesday evening.

* Periods of moderate to heavy rain will result in areas of
significant runoff across the watch area. Flooding of small
creeks... streams and low lying areas will be possible. Urban
areas could also see flooding in areas with poor drainage. Total
rainfall from 2 to 5 inches is possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
