southeastern Jones County in eastern North Carolina...
northeastern Onslow County in eastern North Carolina...

* until 815 PM EDT

* at 728 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near
Maysville... or about 9 miles northeast of Piney Green... moving east
at 47 mph.

* The tornado will be near...
Catfish Lake by 740 PM EDT...
Long Lake and Great Lake by 745 PM EDT...
Neuse Forest... Croatan and 7 miles south of Riverdale by 750 PM
EDT...
Havelock and Cherry Point air station by 755 PM EDT...
Cherry Branch by 800 PM EDT...

The safest place to be during a tornado is in a basement. Get under a
workbench or other piece of sturdy furniture. If no basement is
available... seek shelter on the lowest floor of the building in an
interior hallway or room such as a closet. Use blankets or pillows to
cover your body and always stay away from windows.

If in Mobile homes or vehicles... evacuate them and get inside a
substantial shelter. If no shelter is available... lie flat in the

* The tornado will be near...
South River... Merrimon and Oriental by 740 PM EDT...
7 miles south of Pamlico by 745 PM EDT...

Cedar Island by 800 PM EDT...

... Strong thunderstorms will affect Craven and Beaufort counties
until 800 PM EDT...

At 714 PM EDT... there were strong thunderstorms over the Craven and
Beaufort County line near Cox Crossroads... moving northeast at 50
mph. The strong thunderstorms will be near Bonnerton... Core
Point... Bayview at 725 PM EDT... and... Sidney Crossroads at 735 PM
EDT. Other locations to be affected by the storms include
Vanceboro... askins... Bath... Blounts Creek... Cayton... Ernul and
Pamlico Beach. Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph and small hail can be
expected with these storms.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT Sunday evening
for eastern North Carolina.
