High Wind Watch
Statement as of 4:18 am EDT on September 5, 2008

... High wind watch for Tropical Storm Hanna in effect from this
evening through Saturday morning...

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a high wind
watch... which is in effect from this evening through Saturday
morning.

Winds will increase to between 25 to 35 mph with gusts between 40
and 50 mph expected. The strongest winds will likely occur between
12 midnight and 9 am EDT. These winds will likely occur for 3 to 4
hours at any one spot.

A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Sustained winds of 30 to 35 mph with gusts
between 40 to 50 mph occurring for 3 to 4 hours may lead to minor
property damage and widespread power outages due to downed trees
and power lines. Residents of eastern North Carolina... especially
east of I-95... should prepare now in case you lose power. Outdoor
preparations such as securing lawn furniture and trash cans
should be completed by early this afternoon.
