* the remnants of Gustav produced 10 to 20 inches of rainfall for
portions of southeast Arkansas... west Mississippi and northeast
Louisiana earlier this week. Rivers and streams are swollen and many
roads remain inundated or wash outed. Some rural areas are
unreachable at this time... especially around extreme southeast
Arkansas and northeast Louisiana.

* No significant rainfall is expected for the next 24 to 48
hours... however streams will continue a slow rise. In addition... the
saturated ground will allow excess run-off to pond in low lying
areas... such as roads... ditches and culverts. Flood waters will be
very slow to recede over the next few days.

A areal Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been
reported.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle
into areas where water covers the roadway. When encountering flood
waters make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
