The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
Tornado Watch for portions of

       Arkansas
       southern Missouri
       northwest Mississippi

Effective this Saturday night and Sunday morning from 650 PM
until 200 am CDT.

... This is a particularly dangerous situation...

Destructive tornadoes... large hail to 3 inches in diameter...
thunderstorm wind gusts to 70 mph... and dangerous lightning are
possible in these areas.

The Tornado Watch area is approximately along and 160 statute
miles north and south of a line from 15 miles west southwest of
Fayetteville Arkansas to 70 miles southeast of Batesville
Arkansas. For a complete depiction of the watch see the

Remember... a Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings.

Watch number 296. Watch number 296 will not be in effect after

Discussion... outbreak of severe thunderstorms including tornadoes
should continue spreading esewd across ww overnight ahead of
unseasonably strong upper system and associated mid/upper level jet.
Air mass is moderate to strongly unstable along and south of a warm
front extending from swrn MO into central AR/nrn MS early this
evening which will sustain intense supercells. In addition... low
level shear remains very strong and will support potential for
significant tornadoes within the watch area through late tonight.

Aviation... tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail
surface and aloft to 3 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface
wind gusts to 60 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to
500. Mean storm motion vector 27035.

... A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 730 PM CDT
for eastern Dade... eastern Lawrence... Greene... north central Barry...
northern stone... southern Polk and western Christian counties...

... A Tornado Warning also remains in effect for Barry and stone
counties...

At 650 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
severe thunderstorms along a line extending from Half Way to Crane...
moving east at 54 mph. These storms are capable of producing penny
size hail... and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.

Severe thunderstorms will be near...
Springfield by 700 PM CDT.
Nixa and Highlandville by 705 PM CDT.

The towns of Boaz... Ponce de Leon... Fremont Hills and Spokane are in
the path of these severe thunderstorms. This also includes Interstate
44 between mile markers 44 and 80.

These are dangerous storms capable of producing large hail and
damaging winds... if you are in their path seek shelter indoors and
stay away from windows.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 200 am CDT Sunday morning for
southern Missouri.

... Wind Advisory in effect from 1 am to 7 PM CDT Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect from 1 am to 7 PM CDT Sunday.

Winds from the west and northwest will increase to 20 to 30 mph
with gusts to 40 mph at times behind a strong cold front that will
move across the Ozarks tonight.

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph or gusts to
45 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving
difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Secure light
outdoor objects such as lawn furniture and garbage cans.
