Flash Flood Warning
Statement as of 10:29 PM CDT on July 24, 2008

The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Knox County in northeast Missouri
Lewis County in northeast Missouri
Marion County in northeast Missouri
Monroe County in northeast Missouri
western Ralls County in northeast Missouri
Shelby County in northeast Missouri

* until 415 am CDT

* at 1011 PM CDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar
indicated a line of thunderstorms extending from 10 miles west of
Shelbyville northwestward into southern Iowa. While the
thunderstorms within this line are moving southeast at 30 mph...
the line is showing very little movement. Thunderstorms producing
very heavy rainfall are expected to move across the same location
tonight which will likely cause flash flooding. This is the same
area that has already received between 1 and 4 inches of rainfall
earlier today.

* Other flash flooding can be expected across the area... and will be
affecting La Belle... Clarence... Lewistown... Steffenville...
Shelbyville... Maud... Woodlawn... Ewing... Shelbina... Madison...
Emden... Granville... Philadelphia... Maywood... Warren... Paris...
Monroe City... Palmyra... Rensselaer... Santa Fe... Spaulding... Perry
and center.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flash flooding is observed act quickly. Move
up to higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas
subject to flooding when water begins rising.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

... Flash Flood Watch in effect through Friday morning...

The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Illinois and Missouri...
including the following counties... in Illinois... Adams IL...
Brown IL... Calhoun IL and Pike IL. In Missouri... Audrain...
Boone... Callaway... Knox... Lewis... Lincoln... Marion... Monroe...
Montgomery... Pike... Ralls and Shelby.

rains. Therefore there is a potential risk for flash flooding
through Friday morning.

imminent in the watch area. People in the watch area should be
aware of the possibility of heavy rainfall and flash flooding.
Check your preparedness requirements... especially if you live in
