The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of east central Maine... northern
Maine and southeast Maine... including the following areas... in
east central Maine... central Penobscot and southern Penobscot.
In northern Maine... southeast Aroostook. In southeast Maine...
central Washington... coastal Hancock... coastal Washington...
interior Hancock and northern Washington.

* Through this evening

* expect up to two inches of rainfall across the threat area into
early this afternoon with locally higher amounts possible.

* Heavy rain will cause area streams and Brooks to rise and
possibly exceed their banks. No flooding is expected on larger
rivers at this time. However... even larger rivers are expected
to rise several feet.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
