* portions of central Montana... north central Montana and

northern Rocky Mountain front and southern Rocky Mountain
front. In southwest Montana... Beaverhead... Broadwater...
central and southern Lewis And Clark... Gallatin... Jefferson...
Madison and Meagher.

* Through Sunday afternoon

* near record high temperatures today and Sunday will cause rapid
snow melt in the mountains. In addition... temperatures tonight
will be some 10 degrees warmer than those of Friday night which
will result increased runoff tonight in comparison to that of
Friday night. Small streams and tributaries could exceed their
banks resulting in minor flooding. The counties to be most
concerned about are Glacier... Pondera... Teton... Lewis And
Clark... Madison and Gallatin.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings or advisories. Those living in areas prone to
flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop.

Fire Weather Watch
Statement as of 2:45 PM MDT on May 17, 2008

... Fire Weather Watch in effect from Sunday morning through
Sunday evening gusty west winds and low relative humidities for
the Rocky Mountain front and the plains of north central Montana
(fire zones 112... 113... 114... 115 and 117)...

The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a Fire
Weather Watch... which is in effect from Sunday morning through
Sunday evening.

West winds of 20 to 35 mph with higher gusts will develop on
Sunday. In addition... afternoon relative humidities will drop
below 20 percent over much of the plains of north central and
central Montana as well along the east slopes of the Rocky
Mountains. This combination of strong winds and low relative
humidities may create dangerous fire conditions. Conditions will
improve by Sunday evening as winds diminish and humidities begin
to recover.

Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in these
areas of this Fire Weather Watch.
