Inland Tropical Wind Watch
Statement as of 11:30 am CST on November 9, 2009/

... Tropical storm wind watch remains in effect from Tuesday
morning through Wednesday afternoon...

... New information...
Tropical Storm Ida continues to weaken as it approaches the
northern Gulf Coast... and this trend is expected to continue.

... Precautionary/preparedness actions...
precautionary/preparedness actions...

It is still unclear as to how much Tropical Storm Ida will weaken
tonight and Tuesday as it moves inland and loses its tropical
characteristics. For this reason... residents are still advised of
the possibility of storm force wind gusts up to 40 mph. As a
precaution... loose objects such as garbage cans... patio
furniture... and dead tree limbs should be secured before the
stronger winds and heavy rain arrive later today or tonight.

... Probability of tropical storm/hurricane conditions...
the chance for tropical storm conditions is about 30 percent... mainly
in wind gusts late tonight and Tuesday.

... Inland flooding...
storm total rainfall from today through Wednesday will generally
range from 2 to 4 inches... with locally higher amounts up to 5
inches possible. Some localized flooding is possible in low lying
and poor drainage areas... especially near creeks and streams.

... Winds...
the best chance for tropical storm force winds will be tonight
and Tuesday as Ida draws closer... mainly in gusts. A warning has
not been issued yet due to the uncertainty of how quickly Ida will
weaken and lose its tropical characteristics. It is still possible
that Ida will weaken enough to keep storm force winds limited to
the coast. If Ida maintains its intensity after making
landfall... wind gusts to 40 mph will be possible tonight and
Tuesday.
