Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 6:14 PM CDT on July 5, 2008

... Significant weather alert in effect for Brooks... Coffee... Dale...
Decatur... Geneva... Grady... Holmes... Houston... Jackson... Lanier...
Lowndes... Seminole... Thomas... Walton and Washington counties...

* until 715 PM CDT/815 PM EDT/

At 708 PM EDT/600 PM CDT/... National Weather Service Doppler radar
indicated a sagging multi-County line of thunderstorms... some strong
... Bounded by Walton County Florida east to the Lowndes-Madison
County border on the south... and by Coffee County Alabama southeast
to Seminole County Georgia and then east to Lanier County on the
north. The storms were located at the base of a digging trough and
were dropping southeast around 10 mph.

The primary threats from these storms are pea to dime size hail and
winds 30 to 40 mph. Winds this strong could down small tree
limbs or branches and blow around unsecured small objects. Seek
shelter in a safe home or building until these storms have passed.

This storm is capable of producing torrential downpours which may
cause localized flooding of streets and low lying areas... and is also
producing excessive cloud to ground lightning. Move indoors
immediately! Lightning is one of natures number one killers.
Remember... if you can hear thunder... you are close enough to be
struck by lightning.

Relay reports of significant weather to the National Weather Service
