... Tropical Storm Wind Warning remains in effect from 7 PM EST

Tropical Storm Ida continues to weaken as it approaches the
northern Gulf Coast... and this trend is expected to continue.

... Precautionary/preparedness actions...
precautionary/preparedness actions...

It is still unclear as to how much Tropical Storm Ida will weaken
tonight and Tuesday as it moves inland and loses its tropical
characteristics. However... there is still a good chance of winds
gusting to 40 mph tonight and Tuesday. While this will likely not cause
widespread or major damage... it could cause a few down trees and
power lines. As a precaution... loose objects such as garbage
cans... patio furniture... and dead tree limbs should be secured
before the stronger winds and heavy rain arrive later today or
tonight.

... Probability of tropical storm/hurricane conditions...
the chance for tropical storm conditions is about 50
percent... mainly in gusts.

... Inland flooding...
storm total rainfall from today through Wednesday will generally
range from 2 to 4 inches... with locally higher amounts up to 5
inches possible. Some localized flooding is possible in low lying
and poor drainage areas... especially near creeks and streams.

... Winds...
the best chance for tropical storm force winds will be tonight
and Tuesday as Ida draws closer... mainly in gusts. Widespread or
major damage is unlikely... but some trees and power lines could be
knocked down in the stronger squalls. This could lead to sporadic
power outages.

Forecast as of 10:51 am EST on November 9, 2009

Now
Through 2 PM EDT (1 PM cdt)...areas of light to moderate rain associated with Tropical Storm Ida will spread northward across the Florida Panhandle...western Florida Big Bend...and the Panhandle coastal waters.
