| Now showers beginning to develop near Lake Okeechobee... At 1015 am...Melbourne Doppler radar showed scattered showers beginning to form across western and southern sections of the Florida Peninsula...including the area just southeast of Lake Okeechobee. Through early afternoon...activity is expected to increase across the southern two thirds of the peninsula as the activity continues to develop along and ahead of the West Coast sea breeze...and along the lake breeze boundary near Lake Okeechobee. The best chance for showers and storms will be south of a line from Orlando to Titusville...with activity expected initially over Okeechobee...Saint Lucie and Martin counties. Storms will produce deadly cloud to ground lightning and torrential downpours. Strong gusty winds and hail will also be possible in the most intense cells today. |
