Coastal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 3:58 PM EDT on May 11, 2008

... Coastal flood advisory now in effect from midnight tonight to
8 PM EDT Monday...

The coastal flood advisory is now in effect from midnight tonight
to 8 PM EDT Monday.

Low pressure will develop off the Delmarva Peninsula tonight...
and track south of Long Island on Monday. This will produce a
strengthening northeast flow tonight and a strong northeast to
eventually north flow on Monday. As a result... tidal departures
of 2 to 3 feet above normal are expected tonight and tidal
departures of around 3 feet are expected Monday afternoon. This
in combination with relatively high astronomical tides will result
in widespread minor coastal flooding around times of high tide
both tonight and Monday afternoon. The following tide cycle late
Monday night into early Tuesday morning may be affected as well.

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
