Dense Fog Advisory
Statement as of 12:44 PM MDT on October 11, 2008

... Dense fog advisory remains in effect until 3 PM MDT this
afternoon...

A dense fog advisory remains in effect until 3 PM MDT this
afternoon.

Clouds will continue to cover the foothills through much of the
afternoon with areas of drizzle and dense fog. The fog will
reduce visibilities as low as a hundred yards in some areas. The
places most likely to have dense fog are east facing slopes
between 6500 and 8000 feet... including Interstate 70 from Mount
Vernon Canyon through Floyd hill in Jefferson and Clear Creek
counties... U.S. 285 between Morrison and Conifer... and U.S. 287
between Fort Collins and Laramie. While temperatures are generally
just above freezing... drivers should be alert to the potential
for icing on bridges... especially near the Wyoming border where
temperatures are a little cooler.

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow down...
use low beam headlights... and leave plenty of distance between
yourself and the vehicle ahead of you.

Forecast as of 2:16 PM MDT on October 11, 2008

Now
Areas of drizzle and dense fog will continue in the Front Range foothills through late this afternoon. Visibilities will be restricted to less than a quarter mile at times. While most temperatures are above freezing...drivers should watch for ice on bridges. Elsewhere...scattered showers along with isolated thunderstorms will be moving northeast across the mountains and mountain valleys. Snow will mix with the rain above 10000 feet. Rainfall amounts of up to a tenth of an inch can be expected...with little or no snow accumulation. South to southeast winds at 20 to 35 mph with gusts as high as 50 mph will continue above timberline.
