... Breezy and cooler weather in store for the end of the week...

A cold low pressure system dropping out of western Canada into
Nevada will bring breezy and much cooler weather to northern
California by the end of the week. As this low pressure system
begins its move southward on Thursday most areas will begin to see
a cool down from the above normal temperatures experienced the
last couple of days.

The main weather system is forecast to move into the Great Basin
on Friday bringing significantly cooler temperatures to the
region. Daytime maximum temperatures in the Sacramento and
northern San Joaquin valleys are only expected to climb into the
mid 60s to lower 70s with mountain temperatures only making it
into the 40s and lower 50s. Overnight lows will drop into the 40s
in the Central Valley with lows in the 20s and 30s in the
mountains with some teens possible in the higher mountain valleys.

In addition to the cooler temperatures... gusty north winds will
develop Thursday and continue into the weekend. North winds of 15
to 30 mph are expected in the Sacramento Valley late Thursday
through Friday with wind gusts to 40 mph possible over the higher
elevations.

Although significant precipitation is not expected with this
system... a light dusting of snow will be possible over the crest
of the southern Cascades and northern Sierra Thursday night into
Saturday.

A warming trend along with lighter north winds are expected on
Sunday and early next week.

... Breezy and cooler weather in store for the end of the week...

A cool for the season low pressure system dropping out of western
Canada will bring breezy and much cooler weather to northern
California by the end of the week. As this low pressure system

see a slight cooling trend from the near season normal
temperatures experienced the last couple of days. The main system
is forecast to drop into the Great Basin on Friday bringing
significantly cooler temperatures on the order of 15 to 20 degrees
cooler than during the early part of the week. Daytime maximum
temperatures in the Sacramento and northern San Joaquin valleys
are only expected to climb into the lower 70s with mountain
temperatures only making it into the 40s and lower 50s. Overnight
lows will drop into the 40s in the Central Valley with lows in the

higher mountain valleys.

In addition to the cooler temperatures... breezy to gusty winds are
expected to be generated. North winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected
in the Sacramento Valley late Thursday through Friday with wind
gusts up to 40 mph possible over the higher elevations. Although
significant precipitation is not expected with this system... a
light dusting of snow will be possible over the crest of the southern

A slight warming trend and lighter north winds are expected on
Sunday but below normal temperatures are expected to continue
through the remainder of the weekend.
