now down to a category 1 hurricane with further weakening expected
throughout the day.

... Precautionary/preparedness actions...
precautionary/preparedness actions...

As Hurricane Ida approaches the region late Monday night and into
Tuesday... winds will begin to increase with the potential for low
end tropical storm force winds in portions of southeastern Alabama
and southwestern Georgia. These winds will have the potential to
create some power outages... thus make sure you have on hand non-
perishable food items... like canned goods and bottled water. Tropical
storm force winds are capable of causing minor damage to Mobile
homes. Secure light weight items... like garbage cans and patio
furniture. These items will have the potential to become
projectiles during the height of the storm and cause additional
damage.

... Probability of tropical storm/hurricane conditions...
the chance for tropical storm conditions at this time is 65 percent.

... Winds...
as Hurricane Ida moves closer... the threat for sustained tropical
storm force winds is likely to increase. The latest forecast is
for sustained winds near tropical storm force with gusts in
excess of tropical storm force to begin after daybreak Tuesday
and continue through Tuesday night.

... Inland flooding...
depending on the exact track of Hurricane Ida... storm total
rainfall amounts could approach 3 to 5 inches with locally
heavier amounts possible. This has the potential to cause minor
flooding in urbanized areas as well as for rises in river levels
to near minor flood stage in the days ahead.
