Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 2:59 am CDT on October 8, 2008/

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Alabama... Florida and Georgia...
including the following areas... in southeast Alabama...
Coffee... Dale... Geneva... Henry and Houston. In Florida... Bay...
Calhoun... coastal Walton... Franklin... Gadsden... Gulf...
Holmes... inland Walton... Jackson... Jefferson... Leon...
Liberty... Wakulla and Washington. In Georgia... Baker...
Brooks... Colquitt... Decatur... early... Grady... Miller...
Mitchell... Seminole and Thomas.

* Through this evening

* showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop over northern
Florida... southeast Alabama and southern Georgia today. Rainfall
amounts in the watch area are expected to range from 1 to 3
inches... with isolated higher amounts of 3 to 5 inches possible.
While 1 to 3 inches of rain in a 24 hour period would not
present much of a problem... isolated higher amounts of 3 inches
in a city like Tallahassee or Panama City could cause flash
flooding.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding.

Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should
flash flood warnings be issued.

Forecast as of 6:36 am EDT on October 8, 2008

Now
Through 800 am CDT...scattered showers and possibly a thunderstorm will continue to develop and move northeast at 25 mph across parts of extreme southeast Alabama. Brief moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds will be possible in some of these showers...especially over Dale...Geneva...and Henry counties during the next couple of hours.
