Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 11:41 am AKDT on July 18, 2008

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a

* Flood Warning for the yentna river at Lake Creek and tributaries
in the western Susitna Valley

* until 1115 am akdt Sunday

* at 1130 am akdt Friday continued rainfall has brought levels on
the yentna river at Lake Creek and tributaries such as Lake Creek
to near flood levels. Streams that were already high as a result of
snowmelt and rainfall have been pushed to bankfull levels by
sustained rainfall over the last 36 hours. Levels are rising slowly
Friday morning and are expected to crest above flood stage late
Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Minor flooding is expected to begin in the next few hours. Several
lodges already have water in their yards and around Cabins and when
levels exceed flood stage water will begin to get into Cabins and
other buildings in the area.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

If you live near or along the yentna river near Lake Creek or other
streams in the area stay alert and be prepared to take action.
Boaters should be aware that levels are high enough that boat wakes
will travel overbank in places and may affect homes and Cabins.
