Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue across the east central to southeastern plains of New Mexico through the overnight hours. Most of the activity will move toward the northeast at speeds from 35 to 40 mph. The stronger and more widespread storms will be over Curry...Roosevelt...and Chaves counties and will be capable of producing rain at rates up to three quarters of an inch per hour with wind gusts around 50 mph and frequent cloud to ground lightning. Through 600 am MDT...most of the precipitation will affect locales near and east of a San Jon to Melrose to Roswell line. Expect high water levels in small streams... arroyos and low water crossings throughout eastern Quay...Curry... Roosevelt and Chaves counties...where rain showers will continue to flow over the same areas repeatedly. Water will also pond on roadways.
